The Midwest Collegiate Computing Conference (MWC3) is a premier regional technology competition and learning event designed for collegiate students pursuing computing, information systems, and related disciplines. MWC3 brings together motivated students from 2- and 4-year colleges and universities to test, showcase, and expand their technical skills in a competitive yet collaborative environment.
Competitions are held across a wide range of computing domains, including (but not limited to):
- Cybersecurity – challenge yourself with real-world security problems and protect systems from vulnerabilities.
- Programming (Java & Python) – solve practical software development tasks under time pressure.
- Database Design – build efficient and normalized database solutions.
- Web & Application Development – create web solutions using modern frameworks like Django.
- ERP, Analytics & Productivity Tools – compete in business systems, data analytics, and enterprise simulations.
Participants may compete individually or in teams of up to two, and each competition typically runs 2–2½ hours with problem statements grounded in real-world scenarios to challenge both beginners and advanced students alike.
MWC3 emphasizes professional growth and integrity — the use of generative AI tools (such as ChatGPT, Copilot, Bard, etc.) is prohibited in competition submissions to ensure students demonstrate their own mastery of the subject matter.
Beyond competitions, the conference also offers workshops, breakout sessions, keynote speakers, and networking opportunities with industry professionals and potential employers. Whether you’re looking to benchmark your skills, learn cutting-edge technologies, or connect with computing peers and recruiters, MWC3 delivers an engaging and career-focused experience.
